About Family Medicine
Family practice is the Specialty of Specialties!We are trained in all aspects of medicine with emphasis on the evaluation and treatment of the person as a whole.
Family practitioners are skilled in treating many chronic diseases, acute illnesses and injuries, as well as being trained in pediatrics, gynecology, dermatology, cardiology, orthopedics, pulmonology, minor surgery, gastroenterology, neurology, psychiatry, endocrinology, rheumatology, and more. Although some family practitioners practice obstetrics, we do not in our practice.
- Perform complete physical exams for patients of both sexes and of all ages, including infants and children.
- Provide routine childhood imunizations.
- Perform breast, pelvic, and prostate exams.
- Perform minor procedures such as:
- Closing wounds
- Removing ingrown toenails
- Inserting IUDs and fitting diaphragms
- EKGs
- Pulmonary function tests
- Removing skin lesions
- Injecting certain joints
- Performing vision and hearing screening
- Performing mental health screening
- Manage acute and chronic illnesses.
